No Timeline + No Quoted Price = No Real Plan!

We’ll soon be asked to amend our deeds and approve LHCC’s Utility Extension Program (UEP). We believe the UEP as proposed is not a legitimate method to extend utilities and should be rejected. We encourage everyone to vote NO on these deed changes. We’ve prepared some questions for the LHCC Board about the UEP and some additional facts to evaluate any response. We believe that most people who take a hard look at this program will come to the same conclusion we have: it’s just a bad idea.

The Pitch You Weren’t Supposed To Hear

On June 21st, LHCC’s board of directors held a special meeting to discuss their recently announced Utility Extension Program (UEP). The audience was filled with the likes of former LHCC directors Frank Heisey, Harriet Smith, and Tom Wallace. Apparently, no Membership Lot owners showed up, which is thoroughly understable in light of the treatment they’ve received by LHCC’s board. Besides, since meaningful participation is only available to board cronies, virtually no one shows up anymore.

Mike:

We’d like you to double-check LHCC’s accounting treatment of the contingent funds which might be received from Aqua Virginia relating to the sale of the Utility. Your name came up in LHCC Treasurer John Martel’s explanation to the board of directors regarding certain accounting entries. He explained that an accountant required that these contingent monies be discounted to reflect their value in today’s dollars, or their present value. In simple terms, he said the discount was required because an accountant “cannot let that ride.”

LHCC Board Votes Down Humanitarian Assistance Policy

The Boyd family’s cherished cat Colby has gone and remains missing since mid-February. Finding Colby safe and sound is the paramount objective. If you’ve seen or have any information to help Colby get back home, please call or email us, and we’ll quickly put you in touch with the Boyds.

Colby’s unfortunate disappearance brought to the fore the issue of signs at Lake Holiday. The Boyd family had run afoul of Lake Holiday’s prohibitions on signage in their efforts to locate Colby. They took the initiative to encourage the Board to show more reasonableness in administering Lake Holiday by developing a more humanitarian outlook. However, at the February 26th board meeting, the LHCC Board voted down the humanitarian assistance policy championed by Sharon Boyd.

We’re closely following the response to the questions posed by Bill Masters about money issues at Lake Holiday. So far, a few emails have been exchanged, one of which has triggered calls for the resignation of at least 1 director, Noel O’Brien. We’ll update this post as additional responses are received.
